Okay, okay. I said I'd be back here at Classic Mysteries a couple of weeks ago. Then life intervened. Priorities.
Or, to put it in terms that my tech friends will understand, at least two of the computers I use to maintain my podcast, my blog, and (to a far lesser extent) my sanity decided this was the time to quit.
This, in turn, led to a couple of highly interesting and fairly expensive telephone conversations on the subject of how best to replace these not-overly-hard-working computers. I mean, we're talking conversations like the one with a tech person who breathed "you got your computer WHEN? Do you know it's only running Windows 7 under protest?"
Like I said: priorities.
So: the good news. I'll be back up and fully operational fairly quickly.
The bad news is, for best results, I'm going to be publishing sporadically for a while - until the new computers are in place and operational.
First reviews should be posted here in a day or two. I'll continue publishing them at Facebook as well, and keep you all advised through Facebook posts.
So. I'm sorry. I look forward to renewing our acquaintance and enjoying classic mysteries with everyone, beginning in a couple of days, like maybe this weekend. See you shortly, I hope.
Phew! You had me worried there when no weekly mysteries turned up! This darned covid has made me doubt everything that's supposed to be constant in my universe. But the main thing is that you are still with us, whole and hearty. Just take your time and get every piece of equipment just as you want them. We'll be right here waiting for the next review. I think I have been here listening for at least 700 installments of your blog and it is still the one I never miss every monad.
Keep safe and blogging,
Per Gustavsson

Per, thanks for the note. You have no idea how much I needed to hear that. I'm delighted that you have been a reader of my blog for so long. I promise to be back.
The trouble is - as is often the case - that both of the computers I use to make Classic Mysteries decided to die at the same moment a couple of weeks back. As those computers were both very old - 7 and 10 years respectively - I have had to re-equip myself. This includes not only buying the computers (done) but also learning to use a batch of new programs. That's where I am so far. I will finish (I hope within another week or two) and be back publishing as soon as possible - I already have several reviews written and ready to go, once I know that clicking the "publish" button won't make things disappear.
In any case, please do be patient. And again let me say, you have no idea what a boost your email provided.
Best,
Les Blatt
