For some time now, friends living on That Other Coast have attempted to lure me out west to attend the annual Left Coast Crime conference. I have finally given in, and I'm planning to attend next March's festivities in Monterey, California.
The organizers have chosen a logo and theme they call "Calamari Crime," with an image of a fairly hostile-looking-but-cute squid. (Yes, a squid can be "cute." Check out the picture on the site.) And there is now a newsletter - the first edition of what I suppose will be an occasional publication between now and next March. They call it The Squid Speaks. This issue has information on some writing workshops planned for the day before the conference opens. There are also descriptions of some fun-sounding side trips meant to entice us out earlier and/or to stay later, which may prove successful in my case. Enjoy the newsletter - and, if you can fit it into your plans, the conference itself sounds like it's going to be a lot of fun.
I hope you'll have a wonderful time, Les.

Is that anywhere near your neck of the woods, Margot? I think you'd enjoy it!
