It's that time of year again: the Mystery Writers of America have released the names of the books and authors nominated for this year's Edgar Awards. The Rap Sheet has the full list.
As usual, I find I've read only a very few of the books on the list, so I'll be interested to see who wins. I see that Martha Grimes will be receiving a Grand Master award. Richly deserved.
The awards will be presented at the MWA's banquet, April 26th in New York City.
The Rap Sheet points out that Edgar - Edgar Allan Poe, that is, for whom the award is named - would have been celebrating his 203rd birthday today.
As usual, I haven't read any of the nominees. This happens a lot to me with the Edgars.n In fact, I haven't even heard of most of them. I've read Ace Atkins other books, but not this nominated one, THE RANGER.
I like him so I hope he wins.

My problem too, Yvette. The most interesting book on the list (to me) is non-fiction - John Curran's second volume based on Agatha Christie's notebooks. I'll be reviewing that here (eventually) and for the I Love a Mystery newsletter, but I'm glad to see it has been nominated for an Edgar.
