The Archie Awards are presented biennially by the Wolfe Pack, the association of Rex Stout/Nero Wolfe/Archie Goodwin fans, as a Lifetime Achievement Award. To quote the Wolfe Pack website, "This award was created to celebrate the many mystery authors our members enjoy, an award decided and given by Wolfe Pack members only." The awards were announced tonight at a birthday dinner in honor of Archie Goodwin - a meal consisting of dishes that Archie enjoyed (according to Rex Stout's books) but Fritz would never cook in the brownstone.
This year, three (four, actually) authors were named as Archie Award recipients: Dashiell Hammett, Robert B. Parker, and both halves of Ellery Queen (Frederick Dannay and Manfred B. Lee). We think Archie Goodwin would have approved.
