Very good news for mystery lovers: Michael Innes's masterpiece, "Lament for a Maker," is back in print, and Amazon.com has got it.
This was one of the first books I reviewed last year for Classic Mysteries, but at the time it was out of print in the US. It is a brilliant, atmospheric work set in the remote Scottish highlands, one of the earliest to feature Inspector John Appleby. It is about murder, greed, kidnapping, disasters and madness - all the things which make life worthwhile, no? Listen to that review - but take this opportunity now to get this book. It belongs on every classic mystery lover's bookshelf.
